Murray/Calloway County Hospital seeks a ER Tech this is a full time position with excellent benefits.  Hours are 11PM - 7AM.

 The Emergency Department Technician performs receptionist, clerical duties, cardiac monitoring, and direct patient care in the Emergency Department. The emergency department technician assists in giving service to guests by coordinating the details necessary to keep the Emergency Department running smoothly and assists with the documentation of trends and rhythms of patients in the Emergency Department. They are responsible for providing service to guest and patient in all age categories as defined by each department's scope of service and with respect to cultural diversity. Performs designated tasks in care of patents under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. The job includes the responsibility to uphold the mission, vision, quality statement as well as the values as set forth by the organization.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education High school graduate preferred.

Minimum Work Experience Previous hospital experience with acceptable references preferred.

Required Skills PR maintain certification

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides for patient's personal hygiene: gives bedpans, urinals,

Ambulates, turns, and positions patients;

Administers, non-sterile dressings, splints, crutches, and other Orthopedic Devices, ice packs and applies restraints.

Performs I&O; checks vital signs and weight; specimen collection, and post-mortem care.

Provides for comfort needs of patients.

Works effectively as a team member in the delivery of care and assists in the orientation of new employees.

Utilizes resources and materials in an efficient and safe manner.

Maintains a safe and attractive environment for patients and co-workers; transports patients and equipment as appropriate.

Promptly answers patients' call lights and requests.

Reports observations of a patient to the nurse caring for the patient to ensure professional assessment.

Instills confidence in the patient by maintaining a neat and attractive appearance and performing duties in a competent and caring manner.

Shows dependability by being punctual; maintains consistent attendance.

Maintains good working relations among all nursing unit personnel and other hospital employees through appropriate communication.

In special areas, performs duties as defined on specialized-skill list.

With specialized training, and written approval, may perform additional and specialized tasks pertinent to assigned area.

Accepts reassignment as needed to provide necessary care for all patients.

Arranges for monitors to be covered at all times (breaks, meals, etc.)

FUNCTIONAL DEMANDS

Prolonged periods of standing and walking

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively and to respond to both written and/or communicated word

Lifting up to 35 pounds without assistive device. Pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds

Transferring and repositioning patients

Reaching, stopping, bending, kneeling and crouching for patients care functions

Ability to perform effectively in a stressful and fast-paced environment

Ability to pass all required health and other screening tests
