Murray/Calloway County Hospital seeks an Endoscopy Technician, this is a PRN position with call rotation.

Job Description:

Works under the direct supervision of the OR Unit Coordinator and the Director of Perioperative Services, and would involve the reprocessing of scopes as well as assisting in Endoscopy procedures. It does not involve sterilization of surgical instruments. 

Provides a positive and professional representation of the organization. Promotes culture of safety for patients and employees through proper identification, reporting, documentation, and prevention.

Maintains hospital standards for a clean and quiet patient environment to maintain a positive patient care experience. Maintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments in related scope of job role or practice. Adheres to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations. Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities. Maintains compliance with organization’s policies, as well as established practices, protocols, and procedures of the position, department, and applicable professional standards. Complies with organizational and regulatory policies for handling confidential patient information. Demonstrates excellent customer service through his/her attitude and actions, consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission, and Values of the organization.

Adheres to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and TJC standards and/or standards from other accrediting bodies. Works effectively as a team member in the delivery of care and assists in the orientation of new employees. Utilizes resources and materials in an efficient and safe manner. 

Shows dependability by being punctual; maintains consistent attendance. Maintains good working relations among all nursing unit personnel and other hospital employees through appropriate communication. In special areas, performs duties as defined on specialized-skill list. With specialized training, and written approval, may perform additional and specialized tasks pertinent to assigned area. Accepts reassignment as needed to provide necessary care for all patients.

Endoscopy skills: Assists with endoscopy procedures Maintains room in a state of readiness for procedures Handles specimens according to hospital policy and transports specimens to lab and pathology in a timely manner Works in with conjunction with RN to provide safe and appropriate patient care Assists with scheduling patient procedures, ensuring charts are prepared for next day procedures Assists with ordering appropriate paper documents from print shop Transports patients to and from endoscopy area as necessary

  • BLS certification maintained
